NEW K-Brace for the MINI Cooper & Cooper S (R50, R52 & R53)

The K-Brace is the best value under strut on the market. Using the same stock bolt on points that Dr. Mike of the former TSW found to be best we have created the K-Brace. Like the other systems it improves overall handling of the MINI by adding braces that connect and triangulate to the weak end of the stock sub-frame helping reduce the twisting motion that happens with torsional loading of the chassis in corners. The K-Brace gives the MINI better steering response, better turn-in, rotation and reduces under steer when you want it. Under load in corners it gives you more control with less drama when the road under you changes. The K-Brace gets better with speed and gives you that edge you want. No clearance issues on lowered test mule. Made in the USA with 1 inch OD and .095 thick walled ERW Steel tubing. Fasteners are M10 & M12, class 10.9 with self locking nuts ready to ship worldwide with our two piece jack screw front bar design which makes the front bar stiffer and stronger than a one piece bar. Weighs less than 10 pounds. Road tested and ready to bolt your R50, R52 and R53. Working on R56 next.

AXC Fixed Negative Camber Strut Tower Reinforcement
Plates Made in the USA

$99.00 FREE Shipping

These add approximately 1.30 degrees of negative camber to the front suspension. The stock Mini has very little front camber. This additional negative camber really improves handling without significantly affecting tire wear. These plates bolt to the OEM upper strut bearing plate. They do not require drilling any holes and your strut brace will still fit. Since they are 6MM thick there will be a small rise in your MINI but nothing anyone will notice. Bolt in without removing the strut assy or the need to compress the springs. Be sure to get an alignment after install.

They also address nearly every 2002 to 2006 Mini with tower mushrooming problem! Unless your Mini is very unusual, or rarely driven and then only on great roads, your towers are probably already "mushroomed". This occurs because the OEM
upper strut bearing plate is weak. The constant pounding of the strut bends the 3 corners of the plate and starts pounding into the tower causes the sheet-metal to deform or "mushroom". Take a look at yours. The towers should be almost flat across the top. You can probably discern the deformation with the naked eye. Also check the 3 mounting studs, if anyone of them is bent outward you have “the problem” now you can fix it. As you might expect, this does adversely affect your front-end alignment, as well as the vehicle's handling.

These Strut Tower Reinforcement Plates mount between the strut and the underside of the tower. In other words they are sandwiched in place. They fit the 2002 to 2006 Mini. These Strut Tower Reinforcement Plates are 6mm thick steel. Compare this to the 3mm or 3.5mm plates that others are selling.
You may also have seen so-called reinforcements that mount on top of the tower. Good idea but many of them bend after years of use because they are not addressing the real issue that our plates do.

Our plates are dip-coated in gloss black machinery enamel, and then baked, to provide a thick, hard coating for protection against rust and give a nice finished look. You can paint over this finish in whatever color you prefer.

Once installed, your ride height will be affected slightly, as will your alignment. However, with mushroomed towers, both of these have already been affected, and you probably should have your vehicle realigned once you have fixed your towers with these plates.

Allow about 60 minutes per side to install these. One person can do it, but having two people makes it go much easier. Instructions are included. And while you have it apart, it’s a great time to install our Front Sway-Bar Links. Be sure to see the package deals below.

If you own a MINI built before Jan 2005 you have no rear camber adjustment. The MINI’ built after Jan 2005 has limited adjustment. ALL MINI OWNERS NEED a set of lower RCA’s to reduce tire wear and maximize performance.

The NE RCA is constructed of 1 inch (25.4mm) diameter x .095 inch (2.4mm) wall steel tubing. Each arm has a RH and LH thread precision rod-end bearing with lock-nut to provide easy adjustment. The arms are pre-adjusted to factory length, but can be shortened or extended to provide the rear wheel camber you want. The threads have been pre-treated with anti-seize compound to insure easier adjustability in the future.

We have found setting the rear tires to -1.0 camber and spec Toe (adjusted with trailing arm) improves tire wear

for daily drivers. If your alignment shop doesn’t know how to set rear toe find a shop that does or bite your lip and go to the dealer. A good alignment will give you 1000’s of extra miles of tire wear and yes it should cost more than $99.99. Be sure and get a print out of your before and after specs.

These QUIET rod-end bearings are nylon-composite-lined to assure good self-lubrication and should be maintenance free. With the boots and the pre-applied grease, future lubrication, except in the most severe conditions, should not be needed. These rod ends are rated over 27,000lbs static radial load more than a MINI will ever need.

The rod-end boots are a tough, flexible neoprene rubber. They are resistant to gasoline, most oils and greases. The boots come pre-installed and pre-packed with a high load, water-resistant moly grease. And they are replaceable should they get damaged at some future time.

Due to design of the Mini, you can use these in either the upper or lower position, or both. If only installing one set, people usually replace the factory lower arms. This enables you to adjust camber only. Installing these in both positions will enable adjustment of camber and tracking of the rear wheels. If your Mini is equipped with self leveling Xenon headlights, you may want to consider our sensor arm attachment. This is mounted on the upper driver’s side arm. Email dustin@autoxcooper.com for more details.

Even if you leave these arms at the factory settings, you will notice a difference when aggressively cornering. The rod ends, while self-aligning have the added benefit of having no give, unlike the factory rubber bushings. The NE RCA is almost a pound lighter than the factory arms.

Easy to install. It takes about an hour per set, needing only common hand tools and the appropriate jacks. Instructions are included.

The factory center-to-center hole distance is 532mm, or about 20 15/16 inches. The maximum recommended length on these arms is 551mm, or about 21 11/16 inches. If you need a length greater than 551mm for some reason, let me know when you bid. I can supply it at no extra cost.

You can also find these on eBay from my suppler at the same price.

Two steel 4.5mm thick, Strut Tower Reinforcement Plates, Made in the USA

$75.00 Fix Strut Tower Mushrooming Now!

Nearly every 2002 to 2006 Mini has this problem! Unless your Mini is very unusual, or rarely driven and then only on great roads, your towers are probably already "mushroomed". This occurs because the sheet-metal used to construct the towers is too light of gauge. The constant pounding of the strut into the tower causes the sheet-metal to deform or "mushroom". Take a look at yours. The towers should be flat across the top. You can probably discern the deformation with the naked eye, but to be sure, place a straight-edge across the top of the tower. A gap of 4-6mm is not unusual. As you might expect, this does adversely affect your front-end alignment, as well as the vehicle's handling.

These Strut Tower Reinforcement Plates mount between the strut and the underside of the tower. In other words they are sandwiched in place. They fit the 2002 to 2006 Mini. These Strut Tower Reinforcement Plates are 4.5mm thick steel. Compare this to the 3mm or 3.5mm plates that others are offering, at a higher price! You may also have seen so-called reinforcements that mount on top of the tower. Those will not fix the "mushroomed" condition. Our plates, on the other hand, due to their heavy gauge and "sandwiched" mounting, will help to pull the deformed tower back into place and keep it there.

There is no guarantee that your towers will return to perfectly flat, but they will be much, much improved and more importantly, they will stay that way.

We do provide longer 8mm, Class 10.9, flange head cap screws with our plates. The factory original studs only have about 3mm of extra protruding thread. So while they might hold, with the additional thickness of a reinforcement plate, we strongly recommend replacing the studs with the bolts that we provide. It is not difficult.

Our plates are dip-coated in gloss black machinery enamel, and then baked, to provide a thick, hard coating for protection against rust and give a nice finished look. And, if you want, you can paint over this finish in whatever color you prefer. Photo #3 does show an unpainted plate in temporarily held in place under the strut tower, for illustrative purposes.

Once installed, your ride height will be affected slightly, as will your alignment. However, with mushroomed towers, both of these have already been affected, and you probably should have your vehicle realigned once you have fixed your towers with these plates.

Allow about 90 minutes per side to install these. One person can do it, but having two people makes it go much easier. Instructions are included. And while you have it apart, its a great time to install our Front Sway-Bar Links. Ask me about a package deal.
